Recommended Drills

1

Separation Fence Drill (or Reverse Rotation Drill)

Focus

Hip and Torso Separation

Execution

Stand with your back a few inches from a fence. As you load, focus on rotating your hips toward the pitcher while keeping your back shoulder pressed against the fence for as long as possible. Feel the stretch across your core, then swing.

2

High Tee / Low Tee Drill

Focus

Bat Path and Barrel Depth

Execution

Set up a tee at the top of the strike zone and another at the bottom, slightly further out. Swing to 'connect the dots,' focusing on getting the bat on the plane of the high tee early and keeping it flat through the zone to hit the low tee. This promotes a longer hitting window.

3

Front Arm Only Swings

Focus

Front Side Control

Execution

Take swings using only your front arm (right arm for a lefty hitter). This forces the front side to stay closed and lead the hands to the ball, preventing the front shoulder from flying open too early. Use a light bat and focus on control, not power.
